Rebuild & Reclaim

Northland Studios and Gallery Present:
REBUILD & RECLAIM
Featuring artwork by Whitney Courtney Nastanovich and Jaime Lane

Two of the Des Moines Metro’s most promising artists, Jaime Lane and Whitney Courtney Nastanovich, have joined forces to create the latest exhibit at the Northland Studios and Galley. Rebuild & Reclaim captures the dramatic and unique styles of each artist and blends them together to create a dynamic experience....

Whitney Courtney Nastanovich rebuilds.
Nastanovich uses recycled, discarded and abandoned materials. She breaks them down, destroys them and literally tears them apart. She then, in her brilliant way, rebuilds them to give them a new, beautiful life.

Jaime Lane reclaims.
The classic, iconic pinup girl has spent most of her existence being objectified by men. Using these classic and iconic images as inspiration, Lane gives these once objectified women a voice of their own. She gives them an attitude. She gives them power. Through paint and canvas, she frees them from the male oppression that they’ve lived under and reclaims them as feminine symbol of strength, independence and perseverance.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, June 3rd from 6pm-11pm at Northland Studios and Gallery. Join us in celebrating this new exhibit with some great food provided by some of Des Moines most promising culinary talents, great wine and fantastic music provided by Bob Nastanovich from the band Pavement.

The exhibit will be up through June 30th at Northland Studios located at 621 Des Moines Street in the East Village of Des Moines.See more

Big news....

I've got some big news! Business cards are ordered! Yay!
Oh, that's not big enough news, huh? Well, how about this....

I've finally got a date booked for my first show!

Another local artist (my studio-mate) and I will be having a show at Northland Studios in Des Moines on June 3rd. Those are all the details I know right now. Keep checking back for more information!

Done?

Is a piece of artwork really ever done? Isn't there always something that needs tweaking? touched up? covered and completely repainted? Here's some work that is almost, practically done.

Bienvenue. Velkommen. Bienvenido.

In other words, welcome.
I know not everyone can come hang out in the studio like these cool kids:

So I’ve decided to start a blog to bring my studio to you.

See, this is my studio:

My work space with a few paintings in various stages

My think space... where brilliant ideas are formed.

My drink space.

I’ll show you some completed works and you’ll be able to see the progress (or, sometimes, lack there of) on new pieces. I’ll also use this space to shamelessly promote any upcoming shows I’ll be at. Check back often!
